Meta (formerly Facebook) has launched the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, a significant improvement over the original Ray-Ban Stories. They feature a 12-MP camera, 32GB storage, and 1080p/60fps video recording, with livestreaming options. They have speakers (?!?), five built-in mics, and voice controls. Privacy. Available for pre-order starting at $299, with sales beginning on October 17. Do we need these?

Call Of Duty using AI to listen out for hate speech during online matches

Activision has introduced AI moderation in the game Call of Duty to combat hate speech. The tool, ToxMod, powered by machine learning, detects discriminatory language and harassment in real time. This addresses the longstanding issue of toxic voice chat, particularly affecting women and minorities in online gaming.

Political adverts must disclose use of AI

This is because of lots of deepfake which is getting out of control. Google will mandate disclosure of AI-generated content in political ads starting November, aiming to combat disinformation. These rules respond to the growing use of synthetic tools, ensuring transparency in political campaigns.

Record for AI company investment in Europe

Swedish defence AI startup Helsing, backed by Spotify's founder, Daniel Ek, has secured another record €209 million. This investment could make Helsing the largest European AI company, with a post-money valuation over €1.7 billion.

Helsing's AI platform enhances defence and national security for liberal democracies. It has expanded by partnering with governments and recently won contracts for AI-enabled warfare and combat air systems.
